HK01 coverage on Hong Kong Red Cross “Journey Together” program
(Hong Kong – February 11, 2022) Many teenagers and adults alike have experienced acute anxiety and mental health related issues since the outbreak of the pandemic in 2020, due to class suspensions, social isolation and increased latent stress.
As a response to the challenges facing youth mental health, and in line with its 5-year strategy to support social emotional learning in Hong Kong, The Yeh Family Philanthropy funded the Hong Kong Red Cross to launch the psychological support program “Journey Together.”
Under this program, three-hour psychosocial support training sessions were provided to 1,000 youth workers in Hong Kong, enhancing the participants’ awareness and ability to support and care for youth mental health. A teaching toolkit including interactive games, videos and activity group materials were shared with the youth workers, to better equip them to better facilitate communication with young people both online and offline.
